Stella d’Oro lilies

The Stella D”oro liles are one of my favorite lilies, their long blooming flowers are just beautiful. Sunny conditions are preferred and water accordingly. They bloom from May to late summer and they have a light fragrance. The Stella d”Oro requires very little attention, which is very nice. We have transplanted a few of them to various parts of our yard and they are all doing well.

For this weeks entry for Today’s Flower I have a pretty Hibiscus that is sitting on my deck. What a wonderful name Strawberry Sunset! A great deal from Lowes. It calls for high light, never below 50 degrees, and keep the soil moist . The flowers can bloom until frost. It is perfect for my deck. And I believe most tubular flowers attract the hummingbirds. I am hoping I can it bring inside for the winter as a indoor plant until next spring.

Zinnia

Zinnia is one of the annuals I chose to plant in pots for my deck. They are easy to grow and like full sun and can stand the heat. They attract bees and butterflies which is another plus for planting Zinnias. They come in various colors, this year I bought a pinkish color or maybe what one would call salmon in color. They are prolific bloomers and add color to any garden or in my case my deck. I love COLOR.

Today’s Flower

These pretty yellow mum’s were also a gift from some friends during our little brunch party a couple of weeks ago. They are still looking pretty. I am not sure if they are a yellow version of the white spider mums. The petals are a little thicker than the white spider mums. Since they are in a pot I was thinking I could transplant them outside, what do you think?

Photos can be enlarged when you click on the picture.

In this shot you can see I have the mums sitting next to my cactus that is beginning to bloom again. I see lots of buds on the cactus that have not opened yet. It is my Easter cactus which also blooms around Thanksgiving or Christmas. We have had this cactus plant for years and it is one of my favorite house plants.
