These are just a few of the different Lady Slipper orchids I saw while visiting Longwood Gardens. The Lady Slippers are one of my favorite plants and flowers ever since I have seen the wild Pink Lady Slippers growing in the woods near my house.
It was wonderful to see all the different colors and varieties. They do resemble the ballerina slippers. They are rare plants in the wild and in some states endangered. They can not picked or they will not regenerate.
Thanks for stopping by and to see more beautiful flowers make sure you visit my link for Today’s Flowers.

Beautiful flowers. Your photos bring out their magic! How lucky, you can see them in the wild!
Very nice. Our woods have been pretty much picked clean of these plants over the years. I love the Orchid room at Longwood, always some treats to see.
Very beautiful flowers. Lovely colors.
Beautiful flowers. Never seen them before.
Beautiful flowers. Nice colors.
These are lovely lady slippers. I had no idea there were so many different kinds of that delightful flower.
I LOVE these. They are so delicate and beautiful.
I love orchids…and your lady slippers are so beautiful!
Your photos show clearly why they are called Lady’s Slippers – such dainty adornments for little feet.
Sorry, Lady Slippers . . .
They do resemble the Dancing Ladies or maybe I was wrong. They are both so beautiful!
I have only seen the red wild growing Lady Slipper once Eileen, on a trip down a dark shaded path in the Shenandoah’s. I didn’t realize there were so many different colors. Your photos show some real beauties. Thanks for sharing.

Wow. These are stunning shots. The Lady Slipper is a protected flower in Massachusetts. There is spot by a lake nearby that has dozens in the spring. I took lots of photos last spring of these delicate and beautiful flowers. One of my favorite.
Thank you!

What a lovely collection of lady’slipper photos! I’m always excited when I find them growing wild but would also like to see them at Longwood Gardens.
So very beautiful, especially the pink with the unusual fly-away wings.
