Owls are one of my favorite birds. They can be hard to see, due to the leaves on the trees and they seem to blend in well. Over the years I have been lucky with Owl sightings. Some of the Owls I have seen are the Barred Owl adult and owlets near my house, Long Eared Owl, Screech Owl and the beautiful Snowy Owl. I would have to say the Snowy owl is my favorite, it is just a beautiful owl.

I hope you enjoy my owls and hopefully someday I will have more Owl sightings.

  1. These are wonderful photos, Eileen. You have been lucky, but I think that skill and knowledge also have a lot to do with these captures.

My only encounter with an owl was at dusk at the edge of a marsh in Washington state. A barn owl soared right over my head, very close in. It was all done in total silence and I was startled, but didn’t even have time to be scared at something big and unknown coming so suddenly out of the dark. Must be what happens to the little mousies–a startled moment, then it’s all over.

  2. I have indeed enjoyed these owl sightings! Especially the second one peering through the trees, and the third one. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an owl in the wild, but of course I’ve heard them many times.
