Today’s Flower

We had some friends over last Saturday and they brought us a pretty bouquet of flowers. One of my favorites in the bunch was what I believe is a spider mum. If not maybe someone could tell me the name.

Harlequin Ducks

This weekend I was able to get in some birding at Barnegat State Park in New Jersey. We walked along the jetty and beach watching the ducks and other shorebirds. I was surprised at the high count of Harlequin Ducks and Long Tailed Ducks were along the jetty. There were also Brants, Surf Scoters and Common Eider. We also saw Ruddy Turnstones and Purple Sandpipers. The Common Eider was a lifer for me.

Here are a few of the ducks we saw at Barnegat.

Today’s Flower

From my archives, last summer I planted these impatiens in one area of my garden. The garden filled in beautifully with these pretty pink impatiens. They are annuals in my zone but they were beautiful all summer long. I try to plant one color or similiar colors in one area so it eventually grows into a huge burst of color.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks to the hosting team of Today’s Flowers.

Simple Things

I am joining the challenge and doing a post on my simple things I am blessed with or grateful for.

Yesterday and today, Chris is celebrating the simple pleasures of life. For each person who participates with a list, a poem, or a prose piece about the joy of simple things, Chris’s family will donate $2.00 to Heartline Ministries for their medical clinic and other programs in Haiti. The Heartline Ministries blog by John McHoul will tell you more about what they are doing.
Post your piece this weekend and include a link to Chris’s blog. Then pop in Chris’s site to say you’ve posted your “Simple Things.” Post by midnight, Pacific time, Sunday, and don’t forget to link with Chris and notify him that you’ve posted.

So here is a list of my Simple things

I am blessed with many simple things and I wish the people of Haiti could have their own wonderful list of simple things. Now go and post your own list of simple things.

Owls are one of my favorite birds. They can be hard to see, due to the leaves on the trees and they seem to blend in well. Over the years I have been lucky with Owl sightings. Some of the Owls I have seen are the Barred Owl adult and owlets near my house, Long Eared Owl, Screech Owl and the beautiful Snowy Owl. I would have to say the Snowy owl is my favorite, it is just a beautiful owl.

I hope you enjoy my owls and hopefully someday I will have more Owl sightings.
